Nope – some riders do choose to go without a crew.
There is limited support at the checkpoints, and few stores around Loop 1, so please be prepared if you’re going it alone.
We offer a support team option – please see the next FAQ item.
We realize not every rider may be able to bring a crew with them. Once again, we are offering our National 24 Hour Challenge Support Team, providing you with the support you need to complete the National 24 Hour Challenge successfully.
Our Support Team will transport your food and supplies to the Delton-Kellogg High School checkpoint, where they will be available for you at our clearly designated Support Team tent. The tent will be manned by volunteers for the entire time the checkpoint is open. Once the Delton-Kellogg High School checkpoint closes, your unused
food and supplies will be brought back to Thornapple-Kellogg Middle/High Schools complex.
From 9 a.m. Saturday morning through 8 a.m. Sunday morning, a clearly designated Support Team tent will be available for your support on the grounds of the Thornapple-Kellogg Middle/High Schools complex. You can place your food and other supplies in the tent and volunteers will assist you when you come through the checkpoint.
There is a fee for the Support Team service, which you can select when you register. In order to provide personalized Support Team service, we do need to limit the number of riders served by our Support
Team. Due to the limited availability, we strongly encourage you to register early.
In a word, none. N24HC is a 501(c)(4) Michigan nonprofit corporation (“… devoted exclusively to … recreational purposes …”).
All the corporate officers, organizers, and volunteers are unpaid.
Major expenses include use of the school facilities, Sheriff’s Reserve officers, emergency medical coverage, and insurance.
Donations are not tax-deductible, and we do not seek donations, preferring to operate on registration fees.
The whole idea is that N24HC is an athletic event, and our focus is on the best possible rider experience.
Registration opens January 1st at 12:01 Eastern time each year.
Pets are not allowed on Thornapple-Kellogg school grounds, per school rules.
Please help us continue to be able to use the amazing facilities at the Thornapple-Kellogg Schools by leaving your pet at home.
Simply put, if you have headphones on, you can’t hear as well as you need to.
Between cars and other riders, you need to be able to hear what’s going on. If your ears are covered, that’s harder to do.
You don’t have to ride all night.
Whether your goal is a century, 12-hour best, an N24HC record, or anywhere in between, you’re welcome to take part in the event!
(If you do choose to ride at night, you must complete the Day Loop at least twice to be eligible to ride the Night Loop. And you need to have lights, of course.)
