New Rules for 2019
We realize that rules are probably the least exciting part of the National 24 Hour Challenge. But as we all know, having rules is important and necessary to conduct our event in a safe and fair manner. We have released our 2019 Rules which are available on our website. Nearly all of our rules are the same from last year, but here are a couple new rules you should know:
- NO PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. No exceptions due to school policies and restrictions. If you bring a pet, you will be asked to leave the school grounds. (O.K. this is not a new rule, but it is an important rule to remember.)
- Excessive noise is prohibited from dusk until dawn. Prohibited noises include but are not limited to: playing music, idling vehicles, and running generators
- PROTEST PERIOD. Riders have 15 minutes after results are officially posted to submit any protest of the accuracy of recorded mileage to event organizers.
- CHECK-IN. All riders must personally check-in to event organizers no later than 7:30 a.m. the morning of the event. Riders who do not check-in by 7:30 a.m. the morning of the event may not start the event.
- REPORT FINISH. When finished, riders must report they are finished to event organizers either in person in the lobby of Thornapple-Kellogg Middle School or online using the PIN number provided at check-in by 8:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
Whoa!!!! Hang on a minute. What was that last rule? In the past, when the event ended at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning, riders would wait in a long line to turn-in their back tag to organizers. The line would snake through the lobby of Thornapple-Kellogg Middle School and out the doors onto the sidewalk. Everyone was dead tired, and no one wanted to be in that line.
Starting this year, you can officially report you are finished riding whenever you are done, using our scoring website. You will click a button on the scoring website to indicate you are finished riding, confirm that you agree with the total mileage as noted on the scoring website, enter your personal PIN number provided when you checked in for the event and you are done! Bonus: You get to keep your back tag as a souvenir.
Once you have officially reported you have finished riding, you can pick up your pins, patches, 1,000 mile jerseys, etc. anytime before 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The long line ends this year! Since you took the time to read this information about rules, shoot us an email at National24Hour@gmail.com, and tell us what you think about this new process for reporting you are finished riding and we will give away a free National 24 Hour Challenge water bottle to the first three people to send us an email.
If you have any questions about our rules, be sure to let us know at National24Hour@gmail.com.
Did You Send in Your Picture?
This year our scoring website will have individual rider profile pages for each rider. If you would like to submit a picture of yourself, we will include it on your rider profile webpage. If you have already emailed your picture – thank you! For those riders who want to include their picture on their rider webpage, please email us your picture to registration@n24hc.bike
Looking for a Drone
We have lost our drone. Well, not really. We have actually never had a drone at the National 24 Hour Challenge. This year we are looking for someone who will be coming to the National 24 Hour Challenge and has a drone who would be willing to take some video of hundreds of riders starting the event at Thornapple-Kellogg Middle School. We would also love to have some drone video of riders coming up the drive and around the circle at checkpoint #4 (Thornapple-Kellogg Middle School) at night. If you have a drone and would be willing to help us out with this, please email National24Hour@gmail.com.
