The Challenge Starts in Two Weeks!
Two weeks to go. Registering in January is just a distant memory. March and April training rides are a blur in the rearview mirror. The time is now and Middleville awaits.
Two weeks to go. Everything is ready. Our board and volunteers have been hard at work. Rider packets are ready for pick-up, the scoring website is loaded and ready, routes have been checked, medals have arrived, fruit will be delivered, and support facilities are prepared. We are ready for you.
Two weeks to go. Your training days are over. Come prove yourself at the 38th National 24 Hour Challenge. Challenge Accepted.

If you haven’t registered, you might want to do so on or before July 30th as the registration fee goes up on August 1st.

Covid-19 update
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the board of the National 24 Hour Challenge has been carefully monitoring the recommendations and requirements issued by the CDC, State of Michigan, and Barry-Eaton Health Department to insure that the National 24 Hour Challenge is held in a safe environment. The delay of the event to August 7-8 is in response to those recommendations and restrictions.
As of July 21, 2021, the State of Michigan is not requiring people who are fully vaccinated to wear a mask, and we will not require people who are fully vaccinated to wear a mask at the National 24 Hour Challenge. The board of the National 24 Hour Challenge encourages all riders, crew, and volunteers to get vaccinated.
Per the CDC and the State of Michigan, if you are not fully vaccinated and aged 2 or older, you should wear a mask in indoor public places, and we will ask that you wear a mask at the National 24 Hour Challenge.
If conditions change prior to the National 24 Hour Challenge and there are new recommendations or requirements, we will email all riders and volunteers and post the recommendations or requirements on Facebook and our www.N24HC.org website.
Teams Deadline is Today!
Do you want one of these medals? Of course you do! For the first time this year, we have added a teams category to the National 24 Hour Challenge.
A National 24 Hour Challenge team consists of five riders and may include any combination of upright, recumbent, recumbent trike, tandem, handcycle or Elliptigo bicycles. All five riders must be registered individually as National 24 Hour Challenge participants.
All five riders must start the event at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. At least four of the five team riders must have completed the Day Loop at least 3 times (150 miles) by 9:00 p.m. Saturday to be eligible for team scoring.
The team mileage will be the combined mileage of the 4 team riders who have ridden the farthest as of 8:00 a.m. Sunday. The team with the highest team mileage will receive an award at the awards ceremony Sunday morning.
How to Register Your Team:
Be sure all five riders on your team have registered individually for the National 24 Hour Challenge.
The team captain must send an email to registration@n24hc.bike with the following information: your team name (no more than 3 words) and the names of all five riders on your team. You will receive a confirmation email from the National 24 Hour Challenge registrar confirming your team registration.
Please note that you cannot participate in another group category like Father/Son, Sibling/Sibling, Family, etc. and also participate on a team.
Get busy the deadline is July 23, 2021. There is no additional cost for the teams category.
Rules You MUST Know
You can find a listing of all of the rules for the National 24 Hour Challenge on our website, but to save you some time, here are the rules you absolutely must know before you come to the event. Please read and heed the rules:
NO PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. No exceptions due to school policies and restrictions. If you bring a pet, you will be asked to leave the school grounds.
MICHIGAN VEHICLE CODE. All riders are subject to the Michigan Vehicle Code which includes but is not limited to: riders may not ride more than two (2) abreast, riders may not ride to the left of the center line of the road, and riders must obey stop signs and traffic lights.
CHECK-IN. All riders must personally check-in to event organizers no later than 7:30 a.m. the morning of the event.
HEADLIGHT AND TAILLIGHT. Bicycles must be equipped with a constant burning white headlight and constant burning red taillight visible from a distance of 500 feet. The headlight and taillight must be affixed to the bicycle. The headlight and taillight must not blink.
If you have questions about any of our rules, please let us know. We will go over the rules at the rider meeting on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Thornapple-Kellogg Middle School gymnasium.
